What’s new
Update of 12 October 2026
- The dashboard fits on the screen: on a computer, the key figures, the chart, the unpaid invoices, recent activity and quick actions are all in view at once, with no page scrolling; recent activity shows the lines that fit, View all opens the rest. See The main screen.
- One scroll bar per page: a list such as the Journal or the Chart of accounts takes the height of the window and only its rows scroll, or else the page scrolls, never both at once. The page of an invoice, a recurring invoice, a quote, a credit note or an expense fits in the window: the document and its details each scroll on their own. When it is long (Expert view, More open), the accounting menu no longer makes the page scroll by itself.
Update of 11 October 2026
- AI and payroll, one setting: AI for payroll, in Settings › AI, off by default, covers both possible uses, the payroll run totals read by the Copilot and the draft of a work certificate; never a payslip, church tax or absences. Payroll › Insurance settings shows its state, with Change in Settings › AI. If only one of the two former settings was on, the new one is off, and Settings › AI tells you once. See AI for payroll.
- The OASI number and the IBAN in full for anyone with access to payroll, Payroll · View included: in the employee list, the employee’s record and the payslips in PDF. Each view is written to the access log, as Employee list viewed (OASI, IBAN) or Employee record viewed (OASI, IBAN). See The payroll access log.
- Inviting requires a confirmed email address: a colleague, on a computer as in the mobile app, your fiduciary when you create your company and, in the cockpit, a member or a client of the firm. Otherwise, the screen says so and offers Resend the confirmation email. For everything else, confirming remains optional. See Invite your team.
- An account taken over with Google or Apple, announced: when your first sign-in with Google or Apple takes over an account opened at your address without confirmation, To Bill tells you once, in the This account is now yours window. See Confirm your email address.
- The tips and news emails, presented: when you create your company, on a computer as in the app, with the Receive our tips and news switch, on. An older account sees them presented once, under the top bar. In the mobile app, the switch is also in More › Settings › Notifications. See Your personal account.
- An expired quote can no longer be accepted online: after the Valid until day, the portal invites your client to contact you, with your email address and phone number; Reject is still possible. Extend the quote by changing its date, or convert it into an invoice. See The client portal.
- Quotes that are easier to follow: a sent quote that you edit stays Sent, and the portal shows its latest version. Only a quote that was never sent can be deleted; the others are cancelled (Cancel quote, or Cancel quotes for several) and keep their number. A quote can be marked as accepted even before it is sent, and an accepted or rejected quote can follow your client’s change of mind. Any quote that is not cancelled can be converted into an invoice, after a question if it has not been accepted. The bulk send goes to the contact chosen on each quote, 50 quotes at most. The reason for a rejection shows under Reason for refusal. The dashboard’s Quote conversion rate no longer counts cancelled quotes. See Make a quote and turn it into an invoice.
- Amounts in foreign currencies, never counted as francs: on the dashboard, on a computer and in the app, on the Unpaid page and on the PDF of invoices and quotes, an amount in a currency with no exchange rate is no longer counted as if it were in francs. It stays out of the total and is shown separately, for example “+ SEK 5'000.00 not converted”; a rate older than the document’s day is pointed out, “last known rate, from …”. See The main screen and Create the invoice.
- What is still owed, one figure: on the Outstanding tab of the invoice list, the total is in francs and includes the reminder fees owed, given underneath (“of which reminder fees CHF 20.00”); an invoice in a currency without an exchange rate is shown apart instead of being counted as francs. The Unpaid page, its PDF and CSV exports and the Copilot give the same total. See Create an invoice and Unpaid invoices.
- Unsubscribed with an e-mail’s link, unsubscribed in To Bill too: the unsubscribe link of a tips and news e-mail now also turns off the Receive our tips and news switch, in My account and in the mobile app. See Your personal account.
- A payment in another currency, at the rate of its day: a payment in euros for an invoice in francs no longer counts as francs. The collection form shows the FOCBS official rate of the day and what the payment settles; without an official rate, it asks for the Rate applied. The rate is fixed on the payment, and the invoice’s page shows it. With the accounting module, the exchange difference is posted. See A payment in another currency.
- A client’s totals and the cockpit’s, with no currency counted as francs: a client’s Preview and, in the cockpit, Monthly revenue and Estimated cash convert each amount at the rate of its day; an amount without an exchange rate shows apart, for example “+ USD 800.00 not converted”. In the mobile app, an invoice line in a currency without a rate shows not converted and does not count in the total. See Create and manage your clients and Add and track your mandates.
- Terms and conditions and privacy policy updated: they say what To Bill really does with your data, in particular the subprocessors that process it, the immediate deletion of a company or an account (a copy may remain in our backups for no more than 14 days, then it is erased), how long the AI provider keeps data, and the tips emails. They are linked at the bottom of the sign-in and sign-up pages.
Update of 10 October 2026
- Confirm your email address, if you wish: after you sign up, To Bill sends the “Confirm your email address” email. It is optional; a discreet reminder, which the cross hides for good, offers it, and My account shows Address verified or Address not verified. An invited person who created their account without the invitation’s link sees, once their address is confirmed, the invitations waiting for them, with Accept. See Confirm your email address.
- The logo as PNG or JPG, 5 MB at most, wherever To Bill asks for it. A logo already saved as SVG or WebP still shows on your documents; Settings › Company suggests uploading it as PNG or JPG. See Your company’s details.
- The price of credits, said the same way everywhere: 1 credit = CHF 1.00, a one-page letter costs 3.90 credits, each extra page 0.25 credits, 10 credits at least per purchase. The credits’ payment window is translated and writes amounts as CHF 10.00. See Postal credits.
- Preset names and the SMTP test email in your language: in Settings › Document templates, the Presets Clean and Bold now have a name in every interface language, like the others. The “SMTP connection test - To Bill” email, sent by Test connection, arrives in the language of your interface. See Customise your invoices and quotes and Send your emails from your own address.
- “Email rejected”, one name: the mobile app and its notifications call an email that could not be delivered to your client (wrong address, full mailbox) by this name only. See To Bill notifications.
Update of 9 October 2026
- A single field for the QR-bill’s IBAN: paste or type the IBAN that receives your payments, with or without spaces. To Bill recognises whether it is a QR account or an ordinary IBAN, chooses the reference that goes with it and says so in plain words under the field. Choosing the QR invoice type is gone. The same field is used in the settings, when you send your first invoice, in the Get started card and in the mobile app. See The QR-bill.
- An IBAN for invoices in euros, optional: a QR account only receives francs from 14 November 2026; with this second IBAN, your invoices in euros keep their QR-bill. See Your invoices in euros.
- For fiduciaries, Advanced options shows the technical type detected (QRR, SCOR or NON), the “no reference” choice and the prefix of the QR reference.
October 2026 version
This version brings together three weeks of work, from the end of September to 8 October 2026: a new screen and a new dashboard, a shorter sign-up, guided tours, a new way to search and filter, accounting open to everyone, payroll, time tracking, and a large number of fixes.
The essentials
- A clearer screen: the menu is organised by theme, Sales, Purchases (with To pay) and Payments, then the modules switched on; each theme collapses with one click. The top bar only keeps the search, the Copilot and the ?. See Welcome to To Bill.
- My account: from your account menu, your name, your password (changing it signs out your other devices), the interface language, the light, dark or same-as-device appearance, and the mobile app’s notifications. See Your personal account.
- A new dashboard: your key figures with their trend, to choose and arrange with Customise, the Invoiced and collected chart month by month and Unpaid by age; each figure opens its list. See Welcome to To Bill.
- A sign-up in two screens: a single password, then your company found in the commercial register in one click, and what you want to do with To Bill. The logo and the QR-bill are asked for when they are needed, and the Get started card follows your first steps. See Create your account and your company.
- Guided tours: on every screen, the ? offers Guided tour of this page, which shows its parts one by one. See Welcome to To Bill.
- One search for everything: ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) finds a client, an invoice, an amount, a date, a page or a setting, shows a preview and runs the common actions. See Find anything with search.
- Filters on every list: search, filters, sorting, ready-made and kept views, filters in the page’s address so you can share them. See Filter, sort and keep your views.
- Self-service accounting (experimental): an 8-minute assistant opens your books from your invoices, payments and expenses, after a preview where nothing is written. See Turn on accounting.
- The payroll and Time & projects, two new modules to switch on in Settings › Modules. See Switch on modules.
- Built-in help: Help replaces “Contact support” and opens this documentation; the ? opens the guided tour and the guide for the screen you are on.
Navigation and comfort
- The pages of an invoice, a quote, a credit note, a recurring invoice and an expense have been redesigned: one clearly visible main action, the others in the … menu, the amount left to pay, the payments, the reminders and the history on a timeline, and a sharp PDF preview, with zoom, download and print.
- An invoice’s status follows the money actually received: an invoice marked as paid without a payment says so.
- Each empty list shows an illustration, a sentence and the useful action. A filtered list with no results offers Clear the filters.
- A more sober design, a single font (IBM Plex Sans), denser tables and amounts written the Swiss way everywhere: 1'351.25.
- The menu collapses into a bar of icons. The 23 integrations are brought together in Settings › Integrations. See Integrations.
- The bulk actions bar only appears once a row is ticked, at the bottom of the list, with Clear selection. See Filter, sort and keep your views.
- The postal credits are on the Subscription page. See The subscription and credits.
- On a phone: tables become cards, filters open at the bottom of the screen, the search is full screen.
Invoicing
- Unpaid: who owes you what, by age (not yet due, 1 to 30 days, 31 to 60, 61 to 90, over 90), on any date, exportable as CSV or PDF. An invoice can be written off, receive a discount, default interest or have a small difference settled. See Unpaid invoices.
- Mark as Paid asks for the day the money arrived.
- The QR-bill separates the street and the number, as the standard requires; each instalment has its own reference; the QR-IBAN rules are explained and applied. See The QR-bill.
- Card and TWINT payments, with their fees, refunds and payouts, arrive in the accounting. See Card and TWINT payments (Stripe).
- A recurring invoice whose VAT rate is no longer valid is paused instead of being invoiced.
- bexio exports (contacts, products, open invoices, trial balance) are recognised and previewed before the import. See Import from bexio.
Expenses
- Supplier invoices to pay: drop a PDF or a photo, the QR code fills in the expense (supplier, amount, IBAN, reference, VAT) and flags duplicates. A To pay list prepares a pain.001 payment file for your bank. See Pay supplier invoices.
- Before creating the file, To Bill lists the suppliers and employees whose address is incomplete: banks no longer accept unstructured addresses from November 2026.
- An expense can be paid with the company card, by the owner or by an employee, and a service bought abroad is flagged for acquisition tax.
Bank
- Reconciliation has been rebuilt: To do, Safe matches, Reconciled; each line shows its best match and the reason; Enter accepts, Undo really undoes. See Reconcile payments.
- New views: Rules, Automatic, Stripe / TWINT and Accounts. A line can be split or its small difference settled.
- The camt import keeps every movement and refuses a file from another account. See Import a bank statement.
Accounting (experimental)
- A Situation & to-do home page, a journal with filters, vouchers and reversals, manual entries with VAT.
- The balance sheet and the income statement with the legal headings, the comparison with the previous year and access to each voucher.
- VAT in four steps, from the checks to the eCH-0217 file for the FTA Portal, the net tax rate method and acquisition tax. See Prepare and file the VAT return.
- A guided year-end closing with a checklist, the Notes to the annual accounts, the Profit appropriation with withholding tax, the Fixed assets and their depreciation, Simplified books for small businesses, Currencies at the FTA’s official rate, and the Health of the books. See Close the financial year.
- Exports to Banana, Abacus, Crésus and WinBIZ, and the Complete archive of the books, to download before deleting a company. See Exports for your fiduciary.
- In the Simple display, the menu only shows the essentials; the rest is under More. A company that has no documents yet opens its books in a single screen. See Simple or Expert.
Payroll (new module)
The monthly payroll with its checks, PDF payslips, the accounting entry and the salary payment file; employee records with the OASI (AHV) number masked and an access log; at the end of the year, salary certificates in one click. For small businesses, from one to about twenty employees; To Bill is not Swissdec-certified. See Turn on payroll.
Time & projects (new module)
A timer, a weekly entry grid, projects with a budget, and Create draft invoice, which prepares the invoice for the hours, to read through before sending. See Turn on time and project tracking.
Artificial intelligence
- The autopilot reads your receipts (up to 20 at a time) and only posts by itself what is certain; the rest waits in To review, with a proposal and its reason. See The receipts autopilot.
- The Copilot (⌘J) is on every page, in a panel on the right: it answers your questions about what you are allowed to see, each amount linking to its source, keeps your conversations and prepares your draft quotes and invoices, which open in the editor. It replaces the editor’s assistant. See The Copilot and the night agent.
- Settings › AI fits on one page: one switch for all AI features. Payroll data is never sent. See The AI assistant.
Settings
- Settings › Modules switches on accounting, payroll and time tracking; their menus only appear once they are switched on.
- The administrator can end their fiduciary’s mandate.
- A user without the permission sees a clear message on the settings and subscription pages.
- An invited person who is not signed in goes through signing in or signing up, then comes back to the invitation by themselves. See Invite your team.
Fiduciaries
In the cockpit: each mandate’s accounting at a glance, a single To do queue, exports per mandate or in batches, the eCH-0217 VAT file, switching on a client’s accounting, the fiduciary copilot, managing the team’s roles. Opening a client’s space asks for confirmation. See The fiduciary cockpit.
Languages
Real plurals in all seven languages (“3 invoices”, never “invoice(s)”), statuses that match the document (“Paid” for an invoice, “Accepted” for a quote), texts left in French now translated into the other languages, and messages that say what to do instead of sending you to support. This version still left a few texts in French, such as the names of the Presets in the template editor and the SMTP test email. The fiduciary cockpit, for its part, exists in French, German, Italian and English.
Security and reliability
- If the server is briefly unreachable, you are no longer signed out.
- Permissions are applied better: inviting users requires the corresponding permission, and a fiduciary only has the access their client gives them.
- Each company’s data is better isolated (files, history, saved cards).
Important fixes
- VAT is checked against the document’s date; an invoice with a single rate no longer escapes the return; VAT is no longer refunded twice on a credited invoice.
- A payment is only recorded and posted once, whatever the route.
- The dashboard takes the profit from the accounting when it is on, and the recent activity names the supplier or the invoice.
- A company without a file folder can send its documents again, and another company’s sending no longer delays yours.
