Enter your social insurance
Part of the contributions depends on the law: To Bill applies the year’s official rates for you. The other part depends on your own contracts: the costs of your OASI (AHV) compensation fund, family allowance fund, accident insurance, sickness insurance and pension fund. You enter these rates once, then each time they change.
Before you start
Gather your documents for the year:
- the invoice or statement from your OASI compensation fund (administrative costs);
- the decision of your family allowance fund (contribution rate);
- your accident insurance policy (premiums for occupational and non-occupational accidents);
- your daily sickness allowance policy, if you have one;
- the regulations or statement of your pension fund (occupational pension, BVG).
Enter a version
The rates are saved by version, valid from the first day of a month until the next version.
Open Payroll › Insurance settings. The first time, the form is empty. After that, click New version: To Bill copies the current version, from next month.
Validity. Choose the From date, always the first day of a month.
OASI fund. Enter the name of the Compensation fund, your Member number and the Administrative costs, as a % of the OASI/DI/IC (AHV/IV/EO) contributions, according to your fund’s invoice. The OASI/DI/IC and unemployment insurance (ALV/AC) rates are the official rates: they are applied for you.
Fill in the following sections, described below, then click Save (1).
An empty required field is flagged Required: no rate is assumed for you.
Family allowances and accident insurance
Family allowances
- Canton and Family allowance fund: those of your membership.
- Employer contribution: your fund’s rate, on the OASI salary. Below it, To Bill shows the rate of the cantonal fund of the chosen canton, for comparison. If your fund is a different one, keep its rate: the payroll simply notes it.
- Employee contribution: only in Valais (0.13% in 2026). Elsewhere, 0.
Accident insurance
- Insurer and Policy number.
- Occupational accidents (employer): your policy’s premium, as a % of the salary. The employer pays it.
- Non-occupational accidents: the total premium, as a % of the salary.
- Taken over by the employer: the share of the non-occupational premium that you pay. At 0%, the whole premium is deducted from the salary.
The premiums apply to the salary up to the year’s maximum insured earnings (CHF 148’200 in 2026). An employee who works fewer than 8 hours a week for you is not insured against non-occupational accidents: the payroll does not deduct that premium from their salary.
Daily sickness allowance and pension fund
Sickness daily allowance (optional)
If you have a collective daily sickness allowance insurance, turn on The company has a sickness daily allowance insurance, then enter the Insurer, the Employee premium and the Employer premium, as a % of the salary.
Pension fund
Choose how your plan sets the contributions:
| Pension plan | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| Amounts from the fund | Your fund sends you each employee’s contributions. You enter them in each employee’s record. |
| Same rate for everyone | A percentage of the coordinated salary, for the employee and for the employer. |
| Rates by age | Rates of the coordinated salary by age class. To Bill suggests the statutory retirement credits (7, 10, 15 and 18%) shared half and half: replace them with your plan’s rates. |
| No pension plan | Only if no employee is subject to the occupational pension (BVG). Otherwise, the payroll warns you. |
Also enter the name of the Pension fund. Only tick Coordination deduction in proportion to the workload if your plan provides for it: the statutory minimum does not.
To Bill applies the year’s statutory thresholds for you: minimum salary, coordination deduction, upper limit. It also checks that the employer’s share is not lower than the employee’s.
A version in use no longer changes
As soon as a finalised payroll has used a version, the version is locked: Used by the finalised payroll of …: this version no longer changes. For a new rate, for example from 1 January, create a New version from the month of the change. Past payrolls keep their rates.
Every year, on 1 January
Your insurers often change their premiums on 1 January. From November, To Bill asks you to enter the new rates or to confirm that they stay the same. See The year’s official rates.
Legal basis
- The employer pays the occupational accident insurance premiums. Non-occupational accident premiums are borne by the employee, unless a more favourable agreement applies, and the employer deducts them from the salary: Art. 91 UVG, the Federal Act on Accident Insurance (German version: fedlex has no English one).
- The insured earnings for accident insurance are capped at CHF 148’200 a year: Art. 22 para. 1 UVV, the Ordinance on Accident Insurance (German version). Cover for non-occupational accidents starts at 8 hours a week with one employer: Art. 13 para. 1 UVV.
- Employers join a family allowance fund, financed by contributions on the OASI salary: Art. 12 and 16 FamZG, the Federal Act on Family Allowances (German version).
- Occupational pension: entry threshold of CHF 22’680, coordinated salary between CHF 26’460 and CHF 90’720, at least CHF 3’780 (2026 amounts), retirement credits of 7, 10, 15 and 18%: Art. 2, 8 and 16 BVG, the Federal Act on Occupational Old Age, Survivors’ and Invalidity Pension Provision (German version), and Art. 5 BVV 2, its ordinance (German version). The employer’s contribution is at least equal to the total contributions of all its employees, and it deducts their share from the salary: Art. 66 para. 1 and 3 BVG.
