Payslips
Each payroll gives one payslip per employee: the salary statement the law requires you to give them. To Bill creates it as a PDF, in the employee’s language.
Before you start
The month’s payroll has been computed. The payslips of a draft payroll can already be downloaded, for review; the ones you hand over are those of a finalised payroll. See Run the month’s payroll.
View a payslip
Open Payroll, then the month’s payroll.
In Payslips, click the employee. Their payslip opens on the right, as it will be printed.
Show the employer's contributions also shows what the company pays on top of the salary: OASI, the fund’s administrative costs, unemployment insurance, family allowances, accident insurance (UVG), daily sickness allowance (KTG), occupational pension (BVG). They do not appear on the PDF given to the employee.
The arrows at the top of the payslip go from one employee to the next.
What the payslip contains
Each line has a code, its description, its base, its rate and its amount. The codes follow Swissdec’s standard list of wage types.
| Code | Line |
|---|---|
| 1000, 1005 | Monthly salary or Hourly wage (pro rata for an incomplete month) |
| 1061, 1160, 1200, 1210 | Overtime, Holiday pay (hourly wage), 13th salary, Bonus |
| 1162, 1420 | On leaving: Holidays paid at exit, Salary after death (CO 338) (without OASI contributions) |
| 3000, 3010 | Child allowances, Training allowances |
| 5000 | Gross salary |
| 5010 to 5060 | The deductions: OASI/DI/IC (AHV/IV/EO), unemployment insurance, non-occupational accidents, daily sickness allowance, pension fund, tax at source |
| 6030, 6070 | Actual expenses, Flat-rate expenses (paid back, without contributions) |
| 6500 | Net salary |
| 6520 | Other deduction, with its reason |
| 6530, 6540 | Advanced expenses paid back (without contributions), Amount recovered (what the employee gives back after a correction) |
| 6600 | Amount paid |
Download the payslips
- One payslip: in the open payslip, click Payslip (PDF) (1).
- All the month’s payslips: at the top of the finalised payroll, click Payslips (PDF). A single PDF, one page per employee.
Each download is recorded in the access log.
The payslip has the employee’s address on the right, where a C5 envelope’s window is. Below it: the period, the payment date, the employee number, the entry (and exit), the workload, the canton of work, the tax at source tariff code if there is one, the account paid to and the year’s holiday position, for example “Holidays 2026: entitlement 25 d · taken 15 d · balance 13 d” (except for an hourly wage with a holiday supplement).
The OASI number and the IBAN on the payslip
The payslip prints the OASI (AHV) number and the IBAN in full: it is given to the employee, who needs them to check their OASI account and the salary paid. It prints them this way whatever the permission of the person who downloads it, Payroll · View or Payroll · Manage, and each download is written to the access log. In To Bill, the number stays stored encrypted. The year-end salary certificate also shows the full OASI number, as the official form requires.
A correction payslip
A correction run gives a Correction payslip: it states the month it corrects and the reason, and each line shows what was paid, what was correct and the difference. Give it to the employee like a payslip.
In the employee’s language
The payslip is printed in the Payslip language chosen in the employee’s record: French, German, Italian or English. In the same PDF, each employee has their payslip in their language.
To change the language, open Payroll › Employees, the employee, then Payslip language. A payslip already finalised keeps the language it was computed in; recompute a draft to apply the new language.
Hand over the payslips
To Bill does not email the payslips. Hand them over yourself to each employee, on paper or through a secure channel: they contain their salary and personal data.
Legal basis
- The employer gives the employee a written salary statement: Art. 323b para. 1 CO.
- Payslips are kept for ten years, like other accounting vouchers: Art. 958f CO. They are part of your books’ archive.
- A holiday supplement paid with the hourly wage must be shown separately on each payslip (BGE 129 III 493): To Bill prints it on the Holiday pay line.
