Your company’s details
Your company’s name, address, logo and UID number appear at the top of every invoice and every quote. Check them before you send your first document.
Before you start
The settings require the permission to manage them. By default, only the company’s Administrator has it. Other users see the message Restricted: ask your administrator to give you this permission (see Users, roles and permissions).
Edit the company’s details
Open Settings, at the bottom of the left-hand menu. The Company tab opens.
Company logo. Click Upload logo and choose a square image, PNG or JPG, of 5 MB at most. Any other image is refused, with the message “The logo must be a PNG or JPG image.” or “The logo is larger than 5 MB. Choose a lighter image.” The same rule applies wherever To Bill asks for your logo: the Get started card on the dashboard, the sending window of your first invoice and the mobile app. The × on the preview removes the logo.
Company name. The official name, as it appears in the commercial register. It is mandatory.
Email, Address and Location (postcode and town). They are printed under your name on your documents.
Country, then Canton if your company is in Switzerland. The country adapts the legal notices on your invoices and quotes.
Phone number. Choose the country code, then enter the number.
Company identification number (1). Enter your UID number in the format CHE-123.456.789. To Bill checks its check digit.
Click Save, at the top right. The message Your company settings have been saved. confirms it.
Your VAT number
If your company is registered for VAT, switch on Enable tax feature in VAT and rates on your documents. To Bill then prints your VAT number on your documents: your UID number followed by MWST on documents in German or English, IVA on documents in Italian and the French suffix on documents in French, for example CHE-123.456.789 MWST. Otherwise, it prints the UID number alone.
An invalid phone number is not kept
If To Bill does not recognise the number entered (a missing digit, a wrong country code), it does not save it. After saving, check that the number is still shown.
What you will not find here:
- your IBAN: it is set with the QR-bill, in Settings › Invoice (see The QR-bill);
- the legal form: it is asked for when you turn on accounting (see Turn on accounting).
Your logo is in SVG or WebP format
If your logo was uploaded in SVG or WebP format, before the PNG or JPG rule, Settings › Company points it out under the logo (1): “Your current logo is in SVG format. It still shows on your documents, but for a sharp result everywhere, upload it as PNG or JPG.”
There is no hurry: your documents keep their logo. To replace it, click Upload logo, choose the PNG or JPG version of your logo, then Save. Got it closes the message.
Language, dates and currency of your documents
The Application settings tab sets what is printed on your documents.
| Setting | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Content language | The language of your invoices, quotes and emails to your clients: Français, Deutsch, Italiano or English. |
| Date format | How dates are written in To Bill and on your documents, for example 08.10.2026 or 2026-10-08. |
| Default currency | The currency offered for each new document: Swiss franc, euro, US dollar or pound sterling. |
Click Save to keep your choices.
The language of the screen
The language in which you use To Bill is changed in My account, from your account menu. It does not change the language of your documents. See Your personal account.
Your fiduciary
If a fiduciary follows your company in To Bill, a Fiduciary firm tab appears in the settings. It shows the firm and its contacts, and lets the administrator End the mandate. See Add and track your mandates.
On a phone
The settings tabs scroll horizontally above the title. The Save button is at the bottom of the page.
Legal basis
- An invoice from a company registered for VAT shows its name, its town and the number under which it is entered in the register of VAT-registered businesses: Art. 26 para. 2 let. a VAT Act.
- The VAT number is the UID number followed by the suffix MWST, IVA or its French equivalent: FTA, Enterprise identification number (UID).
